NYLP Club August Social Hour

A thunderstorm over New York. An Italian aperitivo in Harlem. And a room full of Lithuanians who decided the rain wasn’t going to stop them.

Last night’s New York Lithuanian Professionals Club Social Hour unfolded at CopperLeaf Bakery over Bacio Spritzes, freshly baked pizza, and conversations that stretched well into the evening.

Our hosts, Tadas Nikulin and Ruth Shin, gave us more than a warm welcome. Tadas shared the story behind Bacio – A Kiss from Italy, as well as pieces of his own family’s story and connection to Lithuania.

Then came those small coincidences that New York does so well: a childhood friend encountered unexpectedly, a connection first made in India resurfacing in Harlem, strangers discovering how much they had in common.

Outside, the rain kept coming. Inside, nobody seemed in much of a hurry to leave.

Some arrived soaked, but everyone left smiling — and a lucky few with pizza boxes in hand.

Just another Thursday night in New York — and a rather special one for NYLP.

Because that is, ultimately, what our Social Hours are about. Not simply gathering in the same room, but creating the time and space for conversations that might not otherwise happen — to meet someone new, reconnect with someone from years ago, exchange an idea, or simply stay a little longer and talk.

Thank you to Tadas and Ruth, and to everyone who crossed a very rainy New York to spend the evening with us.

And remember, if you’re craving šaltibarščiai while the summer days are still warm, want to try Tadas’ secret-recipe kugelis when autumn arrives, or are looking for something special for your next company gathering — talk to Tadas.

Until the next NYLP Club Social Hour.
