NYLP October Social Hour: An Oktoberfest Evening of Lithuanian Brewing History

Our October Social Hour brought together members and friends of the New York Lithuanian Professionals Club for an Oktoberfest-inspired evening filled with new connections, familiar faces, and a taste of Lithuanian heritage.

The highlight of the night was a trivia competition on the history of Lithuanian brewing and beer traditions. Teams traveled through centuries of Lithuanian brewing history: from pagan beliefs and folk songs, through the days when beer replaced mead and manor breweries flourished around Vilnius, to the farmhouse traditions that families kept alive through Soviet times. The journey ended in the present day, with village beers now protected by the European Union and a new generation of Lithuanian craft brewers. Congratulations to the winning Rūtų Team. 🏆

A special thank-you to Aura Taylor, NYLP Co-Chair, for creating the trivia and sourcing Lithuanian Švyturys beer as a fitting prize for the winners. We are also grateful to Mason Jar and Gelmina Martinson for their continued hospitality and for always making us feel right at home.

It was wonderful to see such a strong turnout: regular members, familiar faces returning after some time away, and first-time guests we were delighted to welcome. Thank you all for joining us!

Coming up with:
